Birthday: The first day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar

              

Nan Dou Xing Jun is also known as Antarctic Old Man, Antarctic Emperor, Nandou Tianshen, Antarctic Star, also known as Antarctic Xian Weng, and is generally called the birthday star. Nan Dou Xing Jun is named Nan Dou because it is composed of six stars that resemble a Dou, namely "Siming Star, Si Lu Star, Life Extension Star, Yi Suan Star, Duer Star, and Ascension Star". The "Shangqing Jing" records: the first Tianfu Palace of the Southern Dou Six Stars is Si Ming Xingjun; the second Tianxiang Palace is Si Lu Xingjun; the third Tianliang Palace is Yanshou Xingjun; the fourth Tianfu Palace is the same palace, It is Lord Yisuan Xing; the fifth Tianshu Palace is Lord Duer; and the sixth Tianji Palace is Lord Xingsheng. Collectively referred to as Liusi Xingjun. The temple dedicated to Nandou Xingjun is called Nandou Shengjun Temple. Because Nandou specializes in survival, it is also called "Yan Sushi" by the people.

 

Nan Dou Xing Jun, along with the Big Dipper Xing Jun, is an important Xing Jun in Taoism. The Book of Changes states that "the life span of the emperor of the six stars in the South Dou is also the ruler of the position of the prime minister." Nan Dou Xing is in charge of the life span of human beings. As the saying goes: "The Nan Dou is born and the Big Dipper is dead." The folklore Nan Dou Xing and the Big Dipper go down every New Year's Eve to investigate the good and evil in the world.
